Which items will be transported
During visits at customers houses note the expectation of starting in a new place well organized, disposing unwanted items and only transporting what is 100% necessary.
It is like new year promises that We will attend to the gym everyday and get our dream body along the year, however, life is tough and bit by bit some of us will slow down and not get the result We want, with the organization before removal is the same, customer want to clear everything before the removal date but it become more challenging than expected.
Adding items to Facebook market place is one form of getting rid of furniture and items but not always people show up on time to collect and you have to start all over. Local charities are also a possibility but if you have too much items they might refuse some of it, believe We have done that loads of times and We understand, their spaces and resources are limited.
Another way to reuse these unwanted items is by contacting local WhatsApp groups in your area or related to you as the group participants might know you so they fill more compelled to attend to your place is they message you committing with one of your items.
At last but not least is the local recycling center, We don`t want to take good items to the dump and would love someone to reuse it but sometimes is just to difficult so you can load the items on your car and do some runs to the local recycling center but don`t forget your council bill. In some places like the Leatherhead recycling center, they have a second hand shop so some of your good items will be put up for selling.
If a customer is telling me We need to transport 10 items for instance, We will quote to get it done based on this information as We don`t want to overprice but if at the day they have 20 items We will be happy to do it if possible but it will cost more.

But why these details are important on my removal?
Well, more items cost more to move and if you can dispose what you don`t need you save time and money by doing so. Sometimes by disposing some items We can reduce the number of vans making a drastic saving on your removal cost and also saving space on your new property for new items.
We had a customer early in 2024 where one of the rooms of the house was damaged by a fire so We were hired to move them to a rental property and good part of their items were moved to our storage (yes We can also store your items for you). After 6 months the house was ready and We first returned the family to their house but We noted They were postponing the return of the items from the storage. Few weeks after when They finally booked the return from the storage They asked us to open all the boxes and at the end They asked us to dispose half of the items saying They no longer need those items” but were paying to store it.
Preparing for the Move
If We are responsible for packing your house, the team will arrive one day before with the packing material.
We will start to organize the house/flat normally from the bedrooms to leaving room and finally kitchen for the moving date.
We will wrap all the furniture to allow the removal to be completed with no damages or stains.
Loosed items can be boxed up for better stacking and protection.
Fragile items will be wrapped with bubble wrap and kitchen items with packing paper.
Dismantled items will be wrapped together with a pack with screws and other smaller bits.
The goal is to pack and organize the items for the moving date, when there is time and space is available We move the boxes and furniture to the rooms closest to the door so on the moving date is easier to load the van.
Making your life easier
Beds won`t be dismantled until the moving date so you can sleep comfortably and We will leave couple of mugs and plates so you can drink and eat during the night before.
We also recommend you to pack a box with essential items to make your life easier, medicine, phone charger, toothbrush, one set of clothes or anything you might need when arriving at the new property or if somehow the completion does not happen.
If possible, use the help of family member and friends to take care of children or pets, Costa Removals Express will take care of your removal but little ones doesn`t understand the removal process so it is safer and less challenging for them to be away on the moving date.
The same happen with pets, We have cats at home so We love them and are happy to keep one room closed for instance but this can slow down the process of removal so if you have a family member that can keep the pets during the removal is better specially for them.
Important to know when buying a house
- Exchange of contracts: Legally commits both buyer and seller to complete the sale. This is when the completion date will be agreed.
- Completion: Occurs after contracts have been exchanged. It involves transferring the remaining money from buyer to seller, and the buyer receiving the keys to their new home. This is your moving date and it is important that on these day all your content is loaded in the van so the completion process not going to be on hold.
Moving Day
Costa Removal Team will arrive at 9am unless you need another time.
While one of the movers will finish packing the items left at the kitchen other one will dismantle the bed and pack the mattress and bed.
We can take TV brackets out of the wall but We don`t install it back on at the new place.
We will start loading the vans by adding as much furniture to one van and the other items at the other one so when we arrive at the new place We can unload the furniture first to organize the house and the boxes and bags can be unloaded around it leaving the house as ready as possible so customer can just open the boxes and organize the content into the furniture.
Moving Day ...
Once vans are loaded We can transport it to the new house, normally We park the vans around the new house to wait for completion and at this time customer will get the keys. In average We wait around two hours in front of the new house for the keys but this process is different from case to case.Â
We understand this is a difficult part of the process because once the vans are loaded and all the content of a life time is been driven away, the anxiety start building up, first to finish this long buying process and second to have back all their house contents but the good part is, during the last five years and after loads of removals customer had a problem on completion only in two occasions and even on those situation We deliver another solution by keeping items in our storage for one night until everything was solved so don`t panic as it will be ok.

Getting used to the new area
When you are moving locally you already know the surroundings and are well adapted to everything but with the rise of property costs and the fact that it is more acceptable to work from home, loads of individuals and families are moving our of the big cities.
At first the greater London was a natural choice where you are 1 hour from central London and the way of leaving is about the same but with time these areas became also expensive so there has been an influx of removals going far out of London to smaller cities where the housing cost is some times half what We have in the big cities with better and bigger properties.
But even though you are saving on the house cost and cost of living, there are other items that might be a bit of a challenge specially if you more a cosmopolitan sort of person. Shops are not as close as you are used to and you probably have to organize better your shopping list buying bigger quantity to stock as the bigger supermarket is not that close.
The resources of services might be a little of a challenge as you don`t have loads of plumber, electricians, mechanics and even Amazon might not deliver on the next day as you had before but don`t panic, you just have to adapt.
On the other hand you can be closer to nature and even a more welcoming community as We all tent to be less stressed when living in an area with less cars, building, noise and so on.
